Ohr Yisrael Synagogue was founded in 1998 and is one of the fastest growing communities. We are spiritually vibrant, friendly and mutually supportive where everyone is made to feel welcome.
Feel the warmth of our vibrant Friday night services. Our Shabbat mornings include inspirational sermons and great Kiddushim. Rabbi Garson provides a series of Weekly Torah learning programmes for adults, the first Daf Hayomi shiur ever in Borehamwood, plus enthusiastic learning programmes for the youth and there are several children’s services run by professional members.
Join us with exciting events and activities arranged throughout the year including, guest speakers, Shabbatons, fun days, Jewish trips to Poland and special events. In addition we are proud to share with the community the HLX, a learning centre set up by Rabbi Garson in memory of Rabbi Shmuli Kass z”l.
Our Rabbi and Rebbetzen’s enthusiasm is infectious; they are always readily available for our members, who appreciate their down to earth approach and kind advice.
Our membership fees are lower than most other local shuls and our members are recognised by all the local Jewish schools.
